Affordable communications and collaborations solution
Pros and Cons
  • "Valuable features of the solution are that it's simple and effective."
  • "To a degree, the project management service could be improved."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for the solution is communications and to extend collaboration mostly around spreadsheets and a few groups, but mainly just to get teams on. We're working with fairly small teams, so I don't need a complex project management system at this stage. More and more I'm looking at using ClickUp somewhere down the line.

What is most valuable?

Valuable features of the solution are that it's simple and effective. The thing that I use most is access to documentation and being able to download a print; those are handy features for what I do. In general, basic communication administration.

What needs improvement?

To a degree, the project management service could be improved. I see the product is picking up task management specifically and we're trying to move away from emails as far as possible, but still sticking to the task management aspect.

Another area of improvement would be on the conversation side if you use the chat functions; it's a bit all over the place. But it again comes back towards the project management side, or rather workflow. To me, everything is a project, that's how I approach that.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using G Suite since it was Google apps, and that was around 2009.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is fine. I would rather think the local networks are falling apart, so the response times are sometimes slow, but it's not really Google related, it's network related.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is fine. I've got one site with 50 users, so scalability doesn't really matter that in that environment. On the Google apps platform, it doesn't matter if you have one, or 10, or 100 users really, because each user is just functioning on its own space.

How are customer service and support?

I have not needed Google support in the reseller environment. I once needed to recover a Gmail address, which somebody created for a company and then disappeared, so there's quite a lot of information on there. And Google actually didn't help me, we had to find another way to recover it.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Prior to using G Suite, I used to run quite large projects on Microsoft Project. But that was before cloud was really involved.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. To integrate apps into G Suite is actually fairly simple. We're fortunately not sitting with a lot of disparate systems. I add one project and then I use IT to sync.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I would say the pricing is very affordable. To me it's cheaper to run a couple of users in a Google platform than what it would be with Microsoft Exchange. But of course, you've got Microsoft Cloud now, so I'm using that as well because clients require that.

What other advice do I have?

When considering G Suite, the key is moving from the old environment, Outlook, or whatever the case might be. I wouldn't use Outlook. I would just stick to the Google interface. But my advice is, if you want change, you've got to plan properly because you'll use it often. That is probably the biggest challenge.

I sell the product, and I would recommend it. I would rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

A stable solution with an easy set up and self reliant integration
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is stable."
  • "Our users have faced an issue with increasing their email quotas over the last three months."

What is our primary use case?

We are using the latest update of the solution. We use it on Windows and are now using it on Windows 10. We utilize the latest version.

We are using all the basic features and have already hosted for three domains.

What is most valuable?

The solution serves our needs. We do not use any of Google G Suite's development products. As such, it is good for us.

What needs improvement?

The pricing is very high, although I cannot tell if this is the result of the Indian vendors artificially inflating it. We are talking about 2,500 per year for each mailbox, which is very high.

Also, our users have faced an issue with increasing their email quotas over the last three months. When they tried to bring this about they simply lost out on the money they remitted on their credit or debit cards. I feel this to be a very bad practice.

We have not encountered any support when it comes to such issues. While we have escalated to their email address, we have found this procedure to be very complicated. It took a week's time to receive a response from when we submitted all the relevant details and it is still not clear if the money has been refunded.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using G Suite Enterprise for almost seven years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is always on the high side.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have not been satisfied with the technical support.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was very easy.

What about the implementation team?

We did the integration on our own, without the assistance of a vendor or integrator. We had no issues, as the implementation and deployment teams are very good.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The very high pricing is what brings down my rating of the solution from a ten to an eight.

Also, they only contact a person at the time of renewal, at which point they are very rigid with the price. No negotiation is permitted whatsoever. A person can only be certain that his money will be consumed, but has no such guarantee about the quota being increased.

What other advice do I have?

We are not seeking new requirements or additional features. Our things work fine. Sharing is there and the conferencing is going on. We encounter no difficulties with the features we use.

Our company has around 215 users who are making use of the solution.

I would recommend the solution to others and have done so with many people who have contacted me.

I rate G Suite Enterprise as an eight out of ten.

Easy to use, easy to administer, and stable, but can have a better graphical user interface
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a stable platform. It is very easy to use, and most importantly, it is very easy to administer. It also gets up and running quite easily."
  • "They can maybe improve its graphical user interface. Google is not really known for having a PC interface. It is just a nice-to-have feature."

What is our primary use case?

It is mostly used for email and account management. Our infrastructure is linked to Google. We have our own domain, but the mail is Google-based. We don't have a rigid infrastructure with domain servers and things like that. Each individual computer is linked to the main account of the user for Google validation processes. We also use cloud storage for Google Drive and file sharing across the company.

What is most valuable?

It is a stable platform. It is very easy to use, and most importantly, it is very easy to administer. It also gets up and running quite easily.

What needs improvement?

They can maybe improve its graphical user interface. Google is not really known for having a PC interface. It is just a nice-to-have feature.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for four years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is most definitely scalable. We have around 200 users.

How are customer service and technical support?

We haven't had much interaction with them. We're using just the basic functionality of it. We have internal people who are able to handle this. They are quite experienced, so we didn't need any support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We've been using G Suite since our company's inception.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution. It is quite a good product. Our requirements are very basic, and it fully satisfies our requirements. We plan to keep using it for the time being.

I would rate G Suite Enterprise a seven out of ten.

Feature-rich with many components that we use for every day tasks
Pros and Cons
  • "We use Google Sheets extensively for things like sharing plans, data, test reports, and more."
  • "Google Meet is a very good product, but it's not up to the mark if you compare it against other products like Zoom or Microsoft Teams."

What is our primary use case?

We use several components of G Suite for our daily tasks including sending and receiving emails, Google Drive for storing data, and Google Calendar for meetings.

What is most valuable?

We use Google Meet for all of our meetings.

Google Sheets is the best feature and use it tremendously. We use Google Sheets extensively for things like sharing plans, data, test reports, and more.

What needs improvement?

Google Meet is a very good product, but it's not up to the mark if you compare it against other products like Zoom or Microsoft Teams. These other products are running at a better quality.

When we convert files from Excel into Google Sheets, many of the formulas disappear or are unworkable. For example, there are some conditional formulas that we can use in Excel, but do not work in Google Sheets.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using G Suite Enterprise for more than three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is very much stable.  From our side, there is nothing wrong with it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I don't think that there is an issue with scalability. When I joined the company, they were already using G Suite, and we were a team of only five people. Now, the team has grown to more than 100 people and we easily scaled.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have never had to contact Google because we have a third party who supports us for this product, and they are very good. When we have an issue, such as a server is down and you can't access your email, the issue is resolved within minutes.

What other advice do I have?

This is a good product, it is really scalable, and I definitely recommend it. This is a really good investment and there are many features that we have not yet exploited.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

In constant use for office related work and collaborative meetings; very secure and user friendly
Pros and Cons
  • "It's a secure solution that enables you to choose those you wish to share with."
  • "Less customizations than there used to be."

What is our primary use case?

We have a team of eight people and everyone is using G Suite whether for collaboration, storing files, Google Word, or using Sheets to Slides, it's all on G Suite. 99.95% of our work revolves around it. It's mainly for office related work and collaborations, that's our primary use case. We're a customer of G Suite and I'm the founder and M.D. of our company.

How has it helped my organization?

It helped us a lot of working together on single artifacts. Since we are in consulting there are lot of documents we build so now we don't have to send documents, we work on the same document with a lot better version control.

Google meet has helped us a lot as well, we do all our customer / internal meetings over google meet. Majority of our workforce is either onsite or working remotely.

What is most valuable?

This product is quite secure in that I can choose the people whom I want to share with, and it's not automatically available to everyone. It's also very user friendly. We started using Gmail and other Google applications almost 12 years ago, so it was quite easy for us to blend in the entire collaboration suite. They're the two major reasons we chose to use Google Suite.

What needs improvement?

There are quite a few things missing in G Suite. It can create a barrier to some features so that for a particular presentation we might have to move to Microsoft PowerPoint for a presentation. Also, some years ago, the Google Sites were very customizable but now they've become a bit compact, and we don't have the same number of plugins and customizations available. Those are two issues we face.

For additional features, we currently face a problem with the lack of a remote desktop option. It means that if we're collaborating, I cannot access your desktop the way it can be done with Skype or Microsoft Teams. It's a feature that's used regularly and that's important to all of us and should be something they include in the next release.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using this solution for the past two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable solution. The only issues are when moving to a new framework, there can be hiccups but we haven't had any outages.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Anna: Okay, perfect. And if we're talking about scalability, have you tried to scale it?

In our own organization we've implemented for 10 people but we have implemented to 100 in other companies. The scalability really doesn't have a limit. So, if you go for the G Suite, it's a highly scalable solution. I know companies with 400 employees that are using G Suite without a problem.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've contacted technical support once in the last 2 year because of a misconfiguration on our side, and they were able to sort it out. Unfortunately, in India there's no direct support network, so we have to raise a request over email or in the portal and they connect us to Malaysia or somewhere.

How was the initial setup?

If you follow the implementation process step by step, there is almost no chance that you will run into a problem. We are an IT service and solutions company and we did the configuration ourselves without using any external party and it was very simple and intuitive. You just follow the instructions step by step. Deployment takes maybe an hour and it doesn't change, whether you have 10 users or 400 users. There is no maintenance required for this solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I believe we pay approximately 2500 Rupees monthly for our users. There are no additional costs.

What other advice do I have?

Individuals need to explore the options based on their business needs. G Suite has building forms, online forms, reports, everything like that. It's just a matter of exploring it and understanding your requirements.

I would rate this solution an eight out of 10. It still requirements some improvements in order to catch up to Microsoft.

Makes it a whole lot easier to virtually have everybody in one room at the same time
Pros and Cons
  • "It's certainly easier to meet. We have offices around the world and the ability to have a company meeting on Google Meet platform makes it a whole lot easier to actually have everybody virtually in one room at the same time."
  • "Their tool called Sheets is the counterpart to Excel but it doesn't have the same functionality that Excel would have. So usually if somebody needs to go back to Excel or Office, it's because of Excel."

What is our primary use case?

We use it as our main email system, so everybody is on that email as a platform. We use it for collaboration, using their tools for Google Meet or Google Hangouts. We use it for their tools that are similar to office tools. They have a spreadsheet, they have what you would see in Office, and they have similar tools to that. I'm able to do a Word documentation or editor, and spreadsheets. We use it for meetings, so it is our counterpoint to an office type of thing.

How has it helped my organization?

It's certainly easier to meet. We have offices around the world and the ability to have a company meeting on Google Meet platform makes it a whole lot easier to actually have everybody virtually in one room at the same time.

What is most valuable?

The email and the meeting piece of it for the collaboration tools are the most valuable features.

What needs improvement?

Their tool called Sheets is the counterpart to Excel but it doesn't have the same functionality that Excel would have. So usually if somebody needs to go back to Excel or Office, it's because of Excel.

They should incorporate some of the formulas, the ability to pivot tables. For our finance team, anything that requires higher cap calculation or data analytics isn't as good in Sheets as it is in their counterpart tools.

For how long have I used the solution?

My company has used G Suite for over four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's stable, lots of people use it. It works well for what we use it for.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We've just signed a contract to use it for the next three years, so we know we're going to use it for that length of time, even as the company continues to grow.

We probably have about 600 users and they vary roles between our executive users, the different departments, HR, finance, sales, marketing, and customer service. We use that same tool in our print facility. So we have fewer technical people that do manufacturing operations on the shop floor.

We plan to increase usage in headcount. I don't know that they offer something that we don't use. They sell add ons or third party products and we use some of them, but it's just continued use as we expand people.

How are customer service and technical support?

Their technical support is good. When we have a question, they're pretty quick when answering.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's about $8.30 up a user per month. If you want to do archiving, things of that nature, there're additional costs for storage, if you upgrade particular users. So some users may have more storage and there are additional licensing costs for that. It depends on how much more they go beyond normal storage.

What other advice do I have?

If you need basic functionality in a very mobile or dispersed workforce, it works great. When we didn't use Enterprise, it became time-consuming and complicated to manage. Sometimes you step up a tier just to be able to manage it more effectively.

I would rate it an eight out of ten. I think it's a good, solid product for basic functionality. It's easy to roll out, it's easy to use in a very distributed workforce until you get to the level where you need very specific things, it's great. Once you get to that, I need some specific functionality like in Excel, it doesn't offer that kind of advanced feature set. So it's the only reason it wouldn't go higher and also because of some of the complications. But it doesn't have an advanced feature set.

Allows you to co-work with colleagues simultaneously
Pros and Cons
  • "personally prefer to use G Suite applications, such as Gmail, Slides, and Sheets, because they give you the freedom to share the document you're editing and co-work with other colleagues simultaneously."
  • "We've had difficulty using PowerPoint files in G Suite. PowerPoint has some functions that are not available in G Suite, so when you convert from PPTX to the Slides format, they don't work."

What is our primary use case?

I work for a consultancy and conduct research for my customers. We are using G Suite to track activities and write some memos.

What is most valuable?

I personally prefer to use G Suite applications, such as Gmail, Slides, and Sheets, because they give you the freedom to share the document you're editing and co-work with other colleagues simultaneously. However, some of my colleagues favor Microsoft PowerPoint and other user-based applications.

What needs improvement?

We've had difficulty using PowerPoint files in G Suite. PowerPoint has some functions that are not available in G Suite, so when you convert from PPTX to the Slides format, they don't work. Also, you might be missing some fonts or pictures too. To stay competitive, Google needs to make G Suite more compatible with PowerPoint.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using G Suite since our company was founded one year ago.

How are customer service and support?

I have not had any significant problems, so I haven't had a chance to contact support. I would only need support if I had to change the password, but this rarely happens.

How was the initial setup?

Setting up Google is no problem. You create an email. That's it. So it works everywhere. We didn't have to do anything else.

What other advice do I have?

I rate G Suite nine out of 10. If it weren't for G Suite's compatibility problems with PowerPoint, I would rate it a perfect 10. PowerPoint files are often broken when we convert. Nevertheless, I recommend that companies use cloud-based applications as much as possible. PowerPoint doesn't allow you to cooperate with other colleagues simultaneously. That's the deciding factor. On a desktop solution, it's hard to pull together a project with multiple parts where one person is working on each.

A low cost, stable productivity tool for startups
Pros and Cons
  • "The user interface is fantastic. It's also available for the individual person, so that's also a great thing about it."
  • "I found that there is no desktop application for this solution, and that's a major fault of this application."

What is our primary use case?

We use G Suite Enterprise as a productivity tool. It's used to make spreadsheets, and we use Google Docs for text editing.

What is most valuable?

It's a cloud-based solution. As it's a Google service, it integrates well with Google. So that is a benefit of using this application.

The user interface is fantastic. It's also available for the individual person, so that's also a great thing about it.

It is a stable solution as well. It's low in cost and is a good solution for startups.

What needs improvement?

I found that there is no desktop application for this solution, and that's a major fault of this application. I think it would be good if Google can enhance the desktop application for it.

Also, it's a little bit slow because it's a web application and not a desktop application. The performance is not that great as compared to Office 365.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used it for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a pretty stable product, and I haven't encountered any issues apart from the slight slowness of the product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have around 150 users, which is the total strength of the organization.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I have an annual license cost.

What other advice do I have?

G Suite Enterprise is a good option for startups. It's low in cost as compared to Office 365, and there is no difference. They are almost equal to each other if we keep performance aside, and it's a stable product. So, I recommend this product for startups and would rate it at eight on a scale from one to ten.
