Helpful to handle a lot of analytics and reporting areas of businesses but needs improvement in the pricing aspect
Pros and Cons
  • "I have no issues with the stability of the product, as everything seems to be fine."
  • "I think that the cost is a big area of concern, considering what users get out of the tool."

What is our primary use case?

The tool is like a spinning desk mechanism where a lot of data comes from multiple sources of multiple applications using a kind of main single source or an index from a single source through a system of record. For multiple applications holding all their data that pertains to a certain piece of data that is housed in a different application database over here, SAP S/4HANA builds models to basically collect all that information and figure out how to build reports out of each of the applications based on their datasets with a key from one of the datasets. If I have a transaction, but my transaction originates in the system over here, and the system has a lot more information, then the transaction makes its way into our system of record, after which it pulls data from the system of record, but it also pulls information from the other system to get more context to the application.

What is most valuable?

The most critical feature of the product for my company's operations would be the conglomerate business modeling which is good. I think the clients I work with are very concerned about their own data and the data of others, so they do need things in real-time, but they need more context around it and why it is being used, but otherwise, it is just a bunch of numbers.

What needs improvement?

I think that the cost is a big area of concern, considering what users get out of the tool. I believe there are some tools and even some cloud-based kind of data modeling tools, which once you start putting applications to the cloud and sharing search services in databases, I think that can kind of buy you what SAP used to put together years ago to sell, and it can be helpful for the power of what you are trying to do with it. In our company, I don't think we are building models constantly, like the real-time decision-making AI models right now with the current tool. In our company, I don't think we will ever be able to get to the aforementioned point with the use of the tool.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have experience with SAP S/4HANA.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have no issues with the stability of the product, as everything seems to be fine.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product's scalability is very good, but again, I think our company's clients don't use it for what it is made for, specifically in terms of its cost. I think it is a more powerful tool than our company's clients need.

How are customer service and support?

For support purposes, my company used to approach the main vendor of the product who helped us with the implementation part.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I work more on the functional side, consisting of reports in Power BI.

How was the initial setup?

In terms of the product's initial setup process, I would say that my company is in a very unique situation with our clients. The product's initial setup process is pretty difficult to handle. On a scale of one to ten, where ten means it was easy, I rate the setup phase a three.

The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.

The solution deployment took a few months because only a few experts knew how to do it. A lot of people were involved in getting the information ready and requirements done, but only a few experts could manage it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is expensive. On a scale of one to ten, one being the lowest price and ten being the highest, I rate the product price as seven or eight.

What other advice do I have?

A few of the products that my company uses are from SAP. My company mostly prefers an application-based or platform-based environment, so we are not on a single source platform. I think we are moving to Azure's cloud services, which will help enable our company to use some of the aforementioned areas. My company uses some NetApp tools to help with our data integration needs, especially since our systems are integrated. There are some API integrations with various applications that we use in our company.

There are some people in our company who deal with SAP S/4HANA set, and then what they do is they replicate data through the models and then expand that to Microsoft Power Apps and Power BI to create reports for everybody.

The tool must handle a lot of analytics and reporting areas like financial information, location information, and other things to support our company's core business processes.

I think because of the size of the data and some of the network support that my company has had on the tool, I can say that many of it wasn't in real-time. The tool hasn't really lived up to what it needs to be, especially from a cost perspective; it is too much, considering what our company gets out of it.

Migrating to SAP S/4HANA has affected our company's data management and reporting in a positive way. The tool gave better access to the information that can then be either viewed or manipulated externally through a different BI or utility. It did give more flexibility in building models. I think we had old warehouse mechanism information many years ago, so I believe that there is a need to do data mining of old transaction journals, which would take a long time, while SAP S/4HANA definitely has helped to speed up the process and actually regenerate the reports. I think sometimes making changes to the tool has been a problem because certain things that are not are just not built the way you want them to be, and so there can be bad information available inside out. I don't think our other tools feed SAP S/4HANA system to have the data in order to actually make it usable without some intervention.

I rate the tool a six or seven out of ten.

Very easy to integrate and the new UI is user friendly
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution's new UI called Fiori is user friendly."
  • "The solution is complex technically because both an old and a new path exist."

What is our primary use case?

Our company implements the solution for customers. It is used for order management, finance, purchasing, and manufacturing. We currently have two customers using the solution.

What is most valuable?

The solution's new UI called Fiori is user friendly.

The solution is very easy to integrate.

What needs improvement?

The solution is complex technically because both an old and a new path exist. Some more development work is needed for Fiori before a complete switchover can happen. Right now, they are enhancing and developing Fiori. In two to five years, things may change because Fiori will be finished and in the market.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support could be better so I rate it a five out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The setup is complex. We were given instructions but setup was not easy.

What about the implementation team?

We implement the solution for customers. Implementation can take between six months to two years depending on the scope and customer.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing model is based on an annual license.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend the solution for big companies because they have a lot of SAP users and can handle the specs of implementation. I do not recommend the solution for mid-sized or small companies because there won't be enough users or support.

Because two systems are being used within the solution as it iterates over to Fiori, the system is currently very technically complex. A lot of workarounds are needed and this creates a bad experience for customers.

I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Analytics have accelerated significantly with seamless integration and efficient operations
Pros and Cons
  • "The output that we get, maybe the analytics part, is even faster compared to what we used to see on the ECC system."
  • "I would rate the solution nine out of ten."
  • "The initial setup was kind of complicated."

What is our primary use case?

Overall, it's being used mostly for analytics. It's basically the movement of goods between various warehouses. That is also pretty much used.

What is most valuable?

The output that we get, maybe the analytics part, is even faster compared to what we used to see on the ECC system. It used to take a few days for the analytics reports to come out of the loading, etcetera. It took a lot of time. However, now it's just a matter of a few hours to get the reports generated. That is one of the things.

What needs improvement?

I don't see any additives as of now. Any of the standard APIs or whatever is available to be integrated is done so easily with the S/4.

For how long have I used the solution?

It's been four or five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The team regularly checks on the logs, audit logs, et cetera, and they review a few important KPIs as well. So no issues are present as of now since everything has gone through proper testing, et cetera.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are no issues in terms of onboarding. Probably, in terms of scalability, we have to plan for that.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was kind of complicated. It went through with proper planning, et cetera.

What about the implementation team?

We have separate teams handling the introductory part and the application parts or the tech team's parts.

What other advice do I have?

Moving from ECC to S/4 is a kind of transformation program which involves a lot of changes, including organizational change planning. That is very crucial. All these things should be taken care of when planning this transformation.

I would rate the solution nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

  • "The solution’s pricing could be reduced and made more cost effective."

What is our primary use case?

SAP S/4HANA helps build features and functionalities that help companies integrate their end-to-end departments. A company has different departments, such as sales, finance, and marketing. The solution helps us integrate the data for each of these departments. It also helps the management team get dashboards for different reports.

What is most valuable?

C4C is a good application of SAP S/4HANA, and it helps many companies. Since the solution is now on the cloud, it has many interesting features.

What needs improvement?

The solution’s pricing could be reduced and made more cost effective.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP S/4HANA for eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

SAP S/4HANA is a stable solution.

I rate the solution’s stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Our clients for the solution are mostly medium-sized businesses.

I rate the solution a nine out of ten for scalability.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's after-sales services and technical support are really good compared to other ERP tools in the market.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy, I rate the solution's initial setup an eight out of ten.

What about the implementation team?

The solution's implementation takes approximately eight to 12 months. It really depends on the features and functionalities the client is looking for.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution's license cost is on the higher side. Sometimes, many companies are unable to afford SAP S/4HANA and look for cheaper solutions like Oracle and Microsoft.

On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a nine out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

The real-time analytics of SAP S/4HANA supports our clients' decision-making processes. I would recommend the solution to other users. It has features and functionalities that help organizations grow and make good decisions, especially on the management level.

Great user experience, easy to use, and well centralized setup
Pros and Cons
  • "The user experience is quite attractive, and maybe the efficiency around the consolidation part as well."
  • "More integration is necessary."

What is our primary use case?

I am one of the implementing partners for SAP, specifically for HANA. I have worked on quite a few projects where I executed transformations with my clients, and I have found that the transformation has occurred. There is value that has been realized.

What is most valuable?

The user experience is quite attractive, and maybe the efficiency around the consolidation part as well. Everything is in one place, and the ease of use is significant. There is a lot of real-time interaction, and people have highlighted the efficiency and insights that come with it.

Pure Infinity is especially effective in improving the user experience, and the preconfigured apps facilitate and expedite implementation time. From the governance point of view, I've seen positive changes, especially in finance and the transport management system as well.

What needs improvement?

More integration is necessary. Some struggles remain, especially regarding SAP's integration with other SAP modules. For example, integration between S/4HANA and Business for Logistics needs improvement. These issues exist within the integration space and present challenges during implementation.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for almost over six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There are quite a few factors to consider, which may not be necessarily attributed to SAP and instead to other players. For example, issues related to the public cloud version, such as connectivity, could impact product stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scale is quite significant. It is very scalable, to be honest.

How are customer service and support?

I have a very good relationship, so I would rate it an eight out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup might be less straightforward, around four to six out of ten. Some elements are not as easy as one might expect.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's quite expensive, to be honest. Technical upgrades, especially for those moving to SAP Cloud, can be significant. The cost might range between two to three million US dollars.

What other advice do I have?

SAP for Canada is my primary job. Depending on the market, I focus on ground sales and private clouds. It's a good product.

I would rate the overall solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Streamline financial operations and supply chain management
Pros and Cons
  • "The processing time has been reduced, and the screens have become more intuitive, leading to a faster user experience."
  • "SAP S/4HANA is a robust front-end solution compared to other web technologies available. However, screen design in SAP EFI might not be as extensive."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for transaction purposes.

How has it helped my organization?

SAP S/4HANA has streamlined financial operations and supply chain management.

What is most valuable?

The processing time has been reduced, and the screens have become more intuitive, leading to a faster user experience. Additionally, the integration has improved by 30%. The introduction of new tools, including cellular apps, has made system configuration and readiness much simpler. Compared to previous versions, the latest upgrades offer enhanced features and pre-configured solutions, making them highly beneficial.

What needs improvement?

SAP S/4HANA is a robust front-end solution compared to other web technologies available. However, screen design in SAP EFI might not be as extensive.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP S/4HANA for one year.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

200 users are using this solution. SAP S/4HANA is scalable, and the availability of support from others reassures us that scalability shouldn't be a problem.

How are customer service and support?

When seeking assistance, we typically prefer to hold an annual company support conference. When requesting support, we ask for the SCC and some additional support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The solution is easy to configure.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is affordable.

What other advice do I have?

SAP S/4HANA has improved the response time of all applications. This improvement was noticeable within just two months of implementation.

Developing a system can be time-consuming, but once it's developed, a set of licensing elements is in place. Companies in India do not extensively utilize solution management. Consequently, we face challenges in storing documentation alongside our projects within the system. Exploring alternative methods for storing these documents within the project would be beneficial. However, it's important to note that companies in India may not prioritize solution management as extensively as elsewhere.

The data consistency and integration have been addressed effectively. This has greatly supported us without extensive customization regarding invoicing and other features within SAP.

SAP S/4HANA is more like an extensive, sophisticated system than a giant airline. It's designed to handle large-scale operations efficiently. While it's true that smaller businesses may find it more challenging to adopt due to its complexity and cost, many mid-sized and large enterprises are utilizing it. Different deployment options are available, such as on-premise or cloud-based solutions catering to various business needs. Additionally, while SAP S/4HANA is primarily known for its ERP capabilities, it also offers modules for HR management. However, some industries have found the HR implementation process to be cumbersome.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Scalable for our use case and offers modules lie FI, CO and more
Pros and Cons
  • "It is scalable enough. We have over a hundred end users using it."
  • "When we want to raise a ticket on the SAP portal, the process takes a longer time, and there are many selections that confuse the user."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for the FICO {Financial Accounting (FI), Management Accounting (CO)}, SD, and MM modules.

What needs improvement?

We don't face any problems with the modules, but we have a problem with the web solution. The web access sometimes has difficulties with logging in.

The support should be improved. Every time we submit tickets to SAP, the process takes a long time.

Also, improved performance, reliability, and stability would be beneficial.

For how long have I used the solution?

In my current company, we migrated to SAP S/4HANA last year in January. It means we started using it in January 2023.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is not really stable.

Based on the SAP support we currently use, the users access SAP through the web. In the web interface, we have a lot of connection issues.

Although SAP claims they are addressing these problems, they have not taken any concrete action. Instead, they try to shift the responsibility back to the customer.

According to our agreement, these tasks should be handled by SAP. However, the support team consistently insists that these issues fall under their scope. This is the challenge we are currently facing.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable enough. We have over a hundred end users using it. There are around five administrators for this product.

How are customer service and support?

When we want to raise a ticket on the SAP portal, the process takes a longer time, and there are many selections that confuse the user. SAP should simplify the way tickets are submitted. This is what we hope they will improve.

They need to improve the solution and streamline the process. We want to bring the issue in more clearly so we can know which option to select.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is okay. It is higher. It is expensive.

We encountered an issue when we implemented SAP S/4HANA. It wasn't properly implemented with disaster recovery. The disaster recovery was an additional feature that required a separate payment to implement a disaster recovery plan.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate the product an eight out of ten because the support is very bad.
